I am glad March is over...oh what a month. It all started out well enough, march madness, work, a trip to Utah, and Jane's 1st birthday. Somewhere in the middle of all of this I decided I needed to get my eyes checked-the last time I have had my eyes checked was when I was a freshman in high school. I couldn't see the score of the basketball games while sitting on the couch. Obviously if I can't see that far ahead of me, I am not a safe driver...which would be evident by the number of tickets I have accumulated over the years. I went to Dr. Anderson, who saw a little problem with my left eye and sent me to a retina specialist. The retina specialist told me I had a detached retina and needed emergency surgery. I thought he meant at the end of the month, but he scheduled it for the next day and told me I would be out for a minimum of 2 weeks. When I asked him what would happen if I didn't go ahead with the surgery, he informed me that I would be blind in my left eye. So needless to say 2 weeks ago yesterday I had eye surgery. I was told that I could not clean, do laundry, cook, vacuum, pick up my children, give them baths, bend over, stoop, or get water in my eye. I have been a one eyed cyclops with out make-up for 2 weeks! Jake and my family have been so wonderful, turns out Jake is a better mom than I am! Morgan brings me gift's all the time and says, "Mom, close your eye. Now open your eye. Surprise!" I have been surprised with tree branches, a volleyball, and a rock. Today I was given clearance to return back to work and to resume all activity. This makes Jake really excited since today is the start of the Masters. I have developed a cataract in my left eye which makes my vision very blurry and so I continue to be one eyed, only this time I have make-up on. I go back to the doctor in 2 weeks and if this cataract does not go away on its own I will have to have another surgery. I am praying that it does go away, because this eye stuff is for the birds!

You described everything so prefectly. The one eyed Mommy getting gifts and crossing your fingers for no more surgery.
Good luck! Have Morgan take a picture so we have a visual.
You are so lovely! Did I ever tell you that my mom is blind in one eye. Freak accident, a fork was dropped in her eye as a child.
I dont tell you that to scare you but to tell you, My mom should have been translated for all her labor as a mother, she may have blurred vision in one eye, but I know she has eyes in the back of her head!
Love you
Hey I had my cataracts taken out and it was not big deal!!!! Not nearly as bad as what you just experienced!!! By the way early onset cataracts are genetic!!! Love YOU!

Kath YIKES!!! But where are the pictures:)
Ugh! How frustrating! I'm glad you're not blind, and I can't imagine having to be immobile for that long. I hope it heals. I owe my sight to you and all of my other roommates who would remind me or help me take my contacts out every night... hahaha
p.s. the word verification that I have to type in right now is "palest." And I totally am the palest person I know right now-- however... I just got to VEGAS so besides seeing you I'm looking forward to seeing the SUUUN!!!
